Title
Bust Ted - With Sawdust And Tinsel
Artist
Cliff Spohn
Medium
Painting - Acrylic And Charcoal On Canvas
Description
A subtle blend of images from different aspects of my mind and memory. Although the face is quite abstract, it has everything in the right places but not accurately. This started out as a self portrait of Frost, the brokenhearted clown with a gun muzzle in his ear (not of his choosing), from the Ingmar Bergman film Sawdust and Tinsel, then I decided I didn't want to be so obvious.

I like the repetition of elements and composition within the bust and in the background. LV

Thank you Wendy, this is another one of my favorite paintings and the lettering is what helps it along I think......

Thank you charlie for favoring this piece.. Did you get a chance to see the portrait I did of George Herriman?

The reason for the title was to break the picture plane, Ted (I don't know anybody named Ted) was becoming too 3D so I wrote 'bust' because thats what it was, and ted was suppose to do the same thing at bottom but it didn't look right so I shifted ted down into the dark area to be seen later.......

Nice image.. love the depth of texture... but I can't let this title go by without making a clever comment.... wish I had one.

Thank you Susan, I really appreciate it and thank you for favoring it. There are a few things that show up in there when one stares at it long enough, even for me... Thanks again!

Very good! I like your collages, too.

Thank you Patricia, I appreciate it. I like your work, your eye for symmetry and asymmetry plus a good sense of juxtaposition and design make it an enjoyable journey through your images.
