Description
I hesitated but then thought, what the hey! This was a strange painting to do, I sorta looked like that about, I'd say 15 years ago, by the color of my hair it was before I taught my daughters to drive (standard). I love Chickadees, I had a bird feeder outside my studio window, and I enjoyed their chirping and antics of hanging upside down and hassling with the titmouse's, I could feed them by hand which was fun. I had painted the chickadee before, and so when I had finished with some other portrait I was painting, I saw myself reflected in a piece of mirrored plastic and thought I'll paint myself so that the chickadee would be on top of my head, well, I missed. I am up lit because light reflecting off the drawing table, I am looking down so the whole thing makes me look loaded. I wear my paint rag when I paint, people would see me wearing tee shirts like this and wanted to know where they could buy one, I was real tempted to start a new business.....

Thank you Pat! I am serious, because I'm standing under a bird, a tiny one thank goodness.

Well, you are brave to be standing right under a bird, and you look so serious. Great painting, Cliff!

My very good friend John, thank you for your flattering comments, I really appreciate it. I am glad you like the playing cards, I was going to send you a CD of them but I have been quite busy reshooting everything especially the cards and get them up here on this site, speaking of which, I wanted to thank you for making me aware of this site. I've met and seen (cyberspace Wise) so many talented and just plain nice people. Your ballerina amazes me, Its so poised, waiting to move and preform or perhaps just finished. Your friend Cliff....

Cliff as a visionary. Very emotive. I like your playing cards very much. I would like to see a group of professional gamblers try to play poker with these cards. Accomplished work and I'm happy to see that you've placed a lot of your meaningful abstract expressionism on this site. Your friend, John
