Description
studying abstract expressionist styles and techniques, made this big sweeping stroke with drips and drops. Z magazine had sent me a bunch of B/W postcards, surprisingly, this photo was exactly what I wanted. I like circles and I liked the two buildings creating two hemispheres, and the barbwire mimicked the splatters perfectly. Tore the photo to change the picture plane and bring yellow in, the printed green cardboard because it matched the green still actuating the hemispheres, wanted the plaid but too strong so used paint stroke to kick things off balance and bring the viewers eyes in and out of the image...
----my early days experimenting with abstract expressionism using paint and collaged images that had nothing to do with each other...so, like most of my work, its more about the aesthetics, punch and tension and not so much on political and or moral issues, well, most of the time anyway.....
