Description
A sort of diptych, I like the juxtaposition of the two different movements and one side symmetrical and the other asymmetrical. I try not to make my abstracts too figurative, more nonobjective but because of the way I paint most of my abstracts, more expressive than color field, it becomes difficult not to find something associated with an image.... I like the tape there also, gives a sort of hands on look I think....

Thank you Vivian and thank you for liking the tape, I do too. You are right, it shows the hand of the artist, the tape is the metaphor for the artist......

Thank you all for your comments. I will try and explain. Lenore you are right, it does tie the disparate images together and it also creates another dimension to the surface, it makes it personal. When I taught at a tech school it was my job to get people to think like an artist, not just let the software do all the work, in other words put the artist hand in it, much like James does, you know that there is an artist creating these beautiful pieces, and you too Lenore, you are way beyond the software. I like tape, I like that it can represent a lot of things, in this case, it represents me, it becomes the metaphor of the artist. I could go on and on about the metaphors but I've got to get to my daughter's birthday party. :)

Cliff~I understand where James is coming from and admire his work tremendously. But I like the tape also because it ties the two disparate (sp?) areas together and adds an element that is thought-provoking as to why it's there. It also suggests repairs, which is an interesting concept in itself. I like this discussion!
