Tiny Dancer's Audition At Samothrace
Artist
Cliff Spohn
Medium
Painting - Mixed Media- Collage On Board
Description
This painting was derived from images I created on my fax machine using tissue paper, and of course acrylic paint and anything else I could get my hands on. Although subdued, the image of the Winged Victory was the key element to this piece. Who is the victor and who is the judge in this phallic driven machine. Centralized and scrutinized, she must endure and conquer the misunderstood truths, then take flight and become like a winged victor. Winged Victory was fashioned after the Greek Goddess Nike.....

Thank you Bradley for the nice compliment, this was a fun piece to do, I had done a lot of experimenting in this one, using my fax machine and various other stuff!!

Beautiful Cliff! I love the interaction you have in your pieces. From a far it's a beautiful piece but up close there is so much more going on.

A nice interplay between shpes and colors....it suggests a ballet of mechanisms

Thank you Douglas for the compliment and observation, it does look sort of like a ballet of mechanisms....

Thank you very much Jill, I appreciate it, especially coming from somebody who creates the cool work that you do. This is one of my favorites, besides the fact of the design, it was because I was experimenting with my fax machine and translucent yellow paper to see if it could used with other paper and images..... I'm happy to say it can....
